HBO Go no longer working on Google TV, gotta watch True Blood somewhere else!
HBO subscribers are experiencing a whole rebirth right now. Some changes are happening as Game of Thrones ends with a very eventful wedding and True Blood just came back, but that is not the only thing many HBO Go users will have to get used to. It seems we will also no longer be able to watch our favorite shows on our Google TVs.
Users across the internet have been reporting issues with HBO Go on their Google TVs. The most common issues seem to include a gray screen appearing when videos are launched and video getting stuck when HBO Go tries to “optimize video quality”.
A user reached out to HBO to try to find out what the problem is, and this is what HBO had to say:
“Thank you so much for your email. We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to share it with us. HBO GO/MAX GO is not supported on Google TV. Google TV is not compatible with HBO GO. Google TV’s browser no longer supports the Adobe Flash Player that is used by HBO GO.”
Because this was a user’s report, we can’t be 100% sure of its accuracy. It seems very viable, though. We have reached out to HBO to get an official statement for you, so we will know the exact details first-hand soon enough.
For now, let’s try to find another device to watch out HBO shows on. Are any of you guys able to continue using HBO Go on your Google TV’s browser?
